The match on Saturday was decided by a 71st-minute game-winning goal from Folarin Balogun, shattering a 1-1 tie that had held since the very start of the game.
The USMNT initially took the lead in the fourth minute when Gio Reyna (Borussia Mönchengladbach) justified his place in the starting lineup, netting a pinpoint header for the opener.
However, their lead was short-lived: just six minutes later, Paraguay forward Álex Arce leveled the score in the 10th minute with a diving header, set up by Atlanta United star Miguel Almirón.

Reyna wasn’t finished, though. After scoring the first goal, he turned provider later in the game, initiating the decisive sequence that led to Balogun’s winning strike.
The USMNT managed to hold their lead even though they faced intense pressure late in the game, which culminated in a mass confrontation among the players and benches just before the final whistle.
