The question now is whether Manchester United are willing to let him go for free in the middle of the season. Barcelona also need to make sure he is in good shape after multiple injury problems.

Manchester United are reportedly willing to let him go, but it is not their first choice. They would prefer to sell Anthony Martial for around 50 million euros to Newcastle United. They wouldn’t have an excess of forwards and would be able to keep the Uruguayan.

La Blaugrana see Cavani as a short term signing to improve the team and help them perform well in the Europa League and the rest of La Liga. It’s crucial that the blaugrana do not miss out on UEFA Champions League football next season, and Cavani could help the team immensely.

However, La Blaugrana wants to be sure he is in shape to contribute right away. There will be extensive testing to make sure he does not suffer an injury relapse shortly after he is signed.

The Spanish giants have a few options to take over the #9 spot should the Cavani deal fail to materialize. However, it is understood that Luuk de Jong is not one of them. The Dutchman will be moved in the upcoming transfer window.

FC Barcelona’s top choice for the winter transfer window is Ferran Torres. Everyone knows that the Catalans are in for the Manchester City forward and are ready to pay a large sum for him. Barça have upped their original bid and have offered 50 million euro for him, according to reports.

But if City don’t let him go, La Blaugrana will pull out and look elsewhere. And it seems that that plan B is Hakim Ziyech.

The Moroccan first put the world on notice as part of the AFC Ajax team that reached the UEFA Champions League semifinals, which included current Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. He has been linked with Barça before but of course, no move has ever come to fruition.
