Nico will undoubtedly return to Barça next summer after gaining some much-needed experience at a top-tier Spanish team because it is a straight loan with no buy option.
Gennaro Gattuso, the manager of Valencia, made the 20-year-old a priority, and he will get the chance to play starter minutes at a vital time in his player development.
The Catalans demanded that Nico sign a one-year extension to his existing Barça contract, which will keep him with the team until 2025, in order to seal the deal. Within the following few hours, the agreement should become official.
In the beginning of the 2021–2022 season, Nico made his Camp Nou debut under Ronald Koeman and has since made 36 club appearances, scoring two goals and dishing out two assists.
However, given that Barcelona has made significant midfield signings—they currently have Sergio Busquets, Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Franck Kessie, Miralem Pjanic, and Sergi Roberto—a transfer to a team where he’ll be given more attention makes sense.

Oscar Mingueza has opened up on his departure from Barcelona and says it was not a tough decision to make after being told he was surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou.
The defender was one of several players that Xavi spoke to ahead of the new campaign and made clear they were not in his plans for next season.
Mingueza admits he was sad to hear the news but knew he had to move on and find a club where he could play regularly.
