Barcelona Defenders Attracting Interest, But The Proposed Deal Is Unfavorable To The Club

Written By Onyeka Daniel
After having so many issues to deal with all at once, Barcelona could be set for some sort of reprieve as they try to strike a balance between keeping a competitive squad and also staying within the given financial standard.
More Details
It was revealed that the club need to bring in plenty of revenue if they’re to be able to make the signings that they have already earmarked.

They’ve been unable to announce and register the signing of two players they got from the free transfer market, as they’re required to reduce their wage bill significantly, just like they did in the last two transfer window.
There are two ways in which they can raise funds, either through sponsorship deals or through selling of players. Already, the club have already identified a number of players that would leave the club and they’ve already sold Phillipe Coutinho to Aston Villa.
The defensive duo of Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti are also said to be on their way out of the club. For Lenglet, the French defender is attracting the interest of English Premier League side, Everton, who are keen to strengthen their squad after barely escaping relegation in the just concluded season.
The player had previously refused to leave the club but with the potential arrival of Andres Christensen and rumors that the club are targeting another defender, Lenglet is said to be open to leaving the club.
The Toffees will be looking to sign him on loan, while Barca also get to pay part of his salary during that loan spell. For Umtiti, French club, OGC Nice are interested in signing him but on the condition that he becomes a free agent, by terminating his contract with the Blaugrana.
While Barcelona will be looking to recoup some transfer fee from the two players, they could yet agree to any deal as long as they get rid of these players.
Meanwhile…
Barcelona winger, Francisco Trincao is said to be close to joining Portuguese side, Sporting CP on a loan deal with an option to buy at €20 million. He was on loan at English Premier League side, Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he scored just three goals and one assist in 30 games for the club.

The 22-year-old joined Barcelona from SC Braga in the summer of 2020 but endured a difficult debut season during which he was largely used as a substitute by then-manager Ronald Koeman. Wolves had an option to make his loan move permanent but they’re expected to send him back to the Camp Nou.
