Barcelona Midfielder Could Join Their Rival As His Agent Is Spotted At Real Madrid’s Valdebebas

Barcelona’s midfield seems like the area most assured for the team presently, boasting lots of talent like Pedri, Nico Gonzalez and Gavi, with all three still in their young age.

More Details

All three have been churning out performances way beyond their age and should they continue on this part, they’re set to dominate the world of football for many years to come.

Barcelona on their part are keen not to lose any of them with talks of the club considering sacrificing Dutch midfielder, Frankie De Jong but they could lose Gavi to their rivals in the summer if they don’t renew his contract as soon as possible.

Gavi, who is just 17-years old became a revelation under previous manager, Ronald Koeman and Xavi Hernandez has continued to place his trust in the player, who has disappointed either but he could leave the club in the summer as his contract will expire in the summer of 2023 and no sign of renewal in sight.

Though, the club has always maintained that they want to renew with the player but they need to raise his salary significantly if they want him to commit his future but their rival, Real Madrid are waiting in the wings, ready to swoop in if given the opportunity.

The visit of Gavi’s agent, Ivan de la Pena to Real Madrid’s offices in Valdebebas a few days ago triggered rumours about potential Los Blancos interest in the Barcelona midfielder.

However, it is being reported that De la Pena went to there to negotiate the contract renewal of Real Madrid B midfielder Marc Cucalon.

It seems like there is an unwritten but gentlemen agreement between Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez and his Barcelona counterpart, Joan Laporta not to target players from each other’s club that are on an expiring contract.

This could mean that Real Madrid won’t make any move for the player until he becomes a free agent. This could have a sort of domino effect as it could mean the Blaugrana can’t move for Real Madrid midfielder Isco while the Los Blancos can’t themselves move for Ousmane Dembele.

Gavi himself has previously turned down Real Madrid and opted for Barcelona and all indications points towards him rejecting then again if they come calling. Something similar happened with his teammate Nico Gonzalez, who made clear that he wants to play for Barcelona when Los Blancos came knocking.
