Barcelona are quickly moving on from the disappointment of prime target Nico Williams who opted to sign a new long term deal at Athletic Club. The Catalan chiefs who are keen on bringing Brazilian forward, Luis Diaz to Camp Nou this summer have started proceedings of inquires although it’s believed that personal terms won’t be an issue but is hefty price tag. With this on the card, Marcus Rashford is another name on their radar, the reigning LaLiga champions are now reportedly working on both deals to bring a new edge to their attacking line.

More Details

Barcelona remain hopeful of signing Luis Díaz, even though they are unwilling to meet Liverpool’s current valuation. Out of respect for the Premier League champions, who are mourning the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, direct negotiations between the clubs have been paused for the time being as per Marca.

However, internal discussions continue at Can Barça as they work on a potential approach. Securing Díaz’s signature will be a major challenge, not only due to Liverpool’s firm €70m valuation stance, but also because Bayern Munich are aggressively pursuing the Colombian forward.

In light of these complications, Barcelona are also exploring an alternative move for Marcus Rashford and have scheduled further meetings with the England international’s representatives. At this stage, the Catalan club are actively pursuing both Díaz and Rashford, though the expectation is that only one of the two is likely to make the switch to Camp Nou.

Barcelona face significant challenges in making a costly transfer move due to their well-known financial difficulties. However, the club is optimistic that once they are cleared to operate under La Liga’s 1:1 spending rule again, they will be in a position to accelerate their pursuit of Marcus Rashford.

The forward has reportedly been given the green light to leave this summer by manager Rúben Amorim, and Barcelona are aiming to negotiate a season-long loan deal that would include an option to buy in 2026.

While further discussions with Rashford’s camp are scheduled in the coming days, there are lingering doubts within the club regarding his consistency, following a largely underwhelming season in the Premier League.
