Barcelona Open Renewal Talks With Hansi Flick
Hansi Flick has undoubtedly transformed Barcelona on and off the pitch since joining the Catalan giants back in May 2024, leading them to a memorable domestic treble last season. The club directors are happy with the German’s work so far and as such, they are ready to extend his stay by another further year.

Negotiations between the two parties are already in progress with sporting director Deco taking a leading role in the discussions as per Sport.
Flick is understood to be happy at Barcelona and fully committed to seeing out the remainder of next season as head coach. However, there are lingering questions over whether he would be open to signing another extension, as previous reports have suggested that he plans to step away from management in the summer of 2027.
Despite those uncertainties, Barcelona are determined to persuade Flick to remain until 2028. The club’s aim is to reach an agreement early next year, a timeline that is particularly important for president Joan Laporta who is keen to strengthen his position ahead of the upcoming elections.

Securing Flick’s renewal before the presidential vote is seen as a strategic priority with the German regarded internally as a unifying figure who transcends individual candidacies.
Flick himself has consistently expressed a dislike for long-term contracts and has previously hinted that Barcelona could represent the final chapter of his coaching career. While the demands of the season have at times appeared to take their toll, he still feels capable of continuing and enjoys unwavering support from both the dressing room and the club’s hierarchy.
Within Barcelona, there is a clear consensus that Flick should remain at the club in the medium term, with confidence high that his leadership can continue to drive the project forward.
