Barcelona Ready To Pounce On Lille’s Tiago Djalo With The Portuguese Defender Set To Be A Free Agent At The End Of The Season

Given their financial incapability, Barcelona’s Sporting director Deco is on green alert for suitable transfers that will not aggravate the club’s spending budget and he has earmarked Lille’s Tiago Djalo as a perfect player for Xavi Hernandez with his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign if he doesn’t renew with the French outfit.
More Details
One of Paulo Fonseca’s key man, the 23 year-old Lille central defender is out of contract at the end of the season and thus available on a free transfer if Barcelona could agree a deal with him although there’s also the possibility of an extension with his current club but it all depends on the player.
Coming through the ranks at Sporting CP, Djalo moved to Milan, but failed to get his shot. Now excelling with Lille though, he has earned a Portugal call-up but is yet to make his debut.
Deco is aware of him due to his work in Portugal as he believes he could be a good option according to Sport but Inter are also interested and could give him a route back into Serie A albeit with Barcelona not desperately in need of central defenders, they have no problem taking a risk on a player for free and seeing how they compete – if things don’t work out, Djalo, like Kessie, should retain some market value.
Meanwhile…
Pedro Soma is on Barcelona’s transfer radar with the 17-year-old midfielder who currently plays for First Federation side Cornella touted as the next ‘Toni Kroos’ although Relevo claimed that Barcelona are just one of the teams interested in signing Soma, with a number of “important clubs” from across Europe and the MLS keeping tabs on him.

Soma made his first team debut for Cornella this season and has impressed, with onlookers describing him as having a similar playstyle to Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos – certainly a flattering comparison as he is able to sign a professional contract when he turns 18 next summer, but whether Cornella can hold on to him remains to be seen.
