Barcelona Reportedly Hold Talks With Haaland’s Agent As Neymar Jr Reveals How He Rejected Real Madrid

Barcelona in a bid to avoid a repeat of this season especially their bad start that left them totally off in the title race, the Catalans are already putting plans in place to make sure the team is reinforced and ready to compete at all fronts when the next season kicks off.

Building on the current form of the team, the club’s hierarchy have identified several areas in the team that needs to be beefed up and also the right type of player that would fit into the team.

Top on their list is the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland and also the signing of a centre-back, a right-back and a left-back and maybe a midfielder should there be any departure from that area.

To this end, reports that a secret meeting between president Joan Laporta and technical secretary Jordi Cruyff with super-agent Mino Raiola that took place in Monaco to discuss the signings of Erling Haaland and Noussair Mazraoui.

Haaland, will become available for €75 million in the summer due to his contractual stipulations, a figure easily attainable for the club but the biggest hurdle in signing him will be to convince the player about their project and also convince his agent, Mino Raiola, who will probably demand around €20 million in commission.

Mazraoui, meanwhile, becomes a free agent in the summer of this year and would be willing to leave behind Amsterdam in favour of a bigger club.

Barcelona have been keeping tabs on the right-back for a couple of months now, and his signing could pull the trigger for Raiola to convince Haaland to follow suit.

Brazilian winger, Neymar Junior has revealed that he turned down the opportunity to join Real Madrid as a teenager before signing for Barcelona later on. The Brazilian international was seen as a future talent in his early career with Santos.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid regularly sent scouts to watch him play in his native Brazil with a move to Europe a strong possibility before his 21st birthday with the Los Blancos haven done all that was necessary to sign the player back then before he opted against joining the club.

“When I was 10, Real Madrid invited me for a trial. I was thrilled and so happy”, Neymar Jr said in a podcast. “I watched their training practice (it was during the Galacticos era) and I watched a game. “I think all the goals in that game were scored by Brazilians. Two by Ronaldo, one by Robinho and a free-kick from Julio Baptista and another by Roberto Carlos.

“After the game I got a picture with them. I was over the moon. I stayed there for a week. “It lasted for four of five days. On the fifth day they wanted to take me to a championship at the Barcelona MIC Cup but I quit. “I got really homesick and I wanted to go back home. “It was pretty much all set up for me to play at Real Madrid but then I got back and stayed in Brazil.

He would later go on to join Barcelona after netting an incredible 136 goals in 225 games for Santos, Neymar joined the Catalan giants in 2013, shortly after turning 21.
