But according to La Liga president, Javier Tebaz, Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta had initially warmed up to the idea before being reportedly convinced to reject it by his Real Madrid counterpart, Florentino Perez.

Since then, the Blaugrana have gone through one of their worst seasons in recent times, losing Lionel Messi to the free transfer market and also falling off the La Liga title race.

Barca are now set to sign up to LaLiga Group International, the holding company set up with the CVC loan. It’s reported Barca are close to agreeing a deal to join the group, though with differing terms.

The Blaugrana have already agreed TV contributions elsewhere, but it’s reported they will have to repay the loan in time.

According to the report, Barca are taking the action because they want to sufficiently raise their salary cap to allow them go after their summer targets which has Erling Haaland on top of the list and also includes the likes of Andres Christensen, Franck Kessie and Mathijs De Ligt.

With the expected fee from their sponsorship deal with Spotify and the debt restructuring by the club, they should have enough leeway to be able to make signings in the coming transfer window as they look to compete with Real Madrid for the La Liga title and also fight for the UEFA Champions League trophy too.

Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez is set to fight for the club to keep young midfielder, Riqui Puig at the club beyond the current season despite lack of much playing at the club.

Puig is said to be considering his future with the club after failing to break into the first team but Xavi is said to be highly impressed with the player especially his attitude in training and would advise the club to keep the player.

Xavi’s hands are tied in terms of game time, with competition intense in the middle but Puig has already been very patient, but he is going to have to remain patient as he continues to work towards his Barca dream or look to achieve his dream elsewhere.
