Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez is hoping to count on the player and his recent statement that “De Jong is Barça’s present and future” is further proof of that.

But with Barcelona struggling financially, they may have to sell one big player in order to balance their books to give them some room to operate in the transfer market.

AC Milan midfielder, Franck Kessie is expected to arrive on a free transfer and the emergence of Pedri, Gavi and Nico Gonzalez in the middle, while they can also count on Sergi Roberto and Riqui Puig, the club could feel they’re adequately protected in the midfield, enough not to feel the absence of De Jong.

The Blaugrana will be looking to sell him for as high as €70 million with Manchester United and Juventus said to be very much interested in the Netherlands international.

Meanwhile…

Barcelona are said to be looking to sign Valencia midfielder, Carlos Soler if they eventually get to sell De Jong during the summer transfer window. Soler is refusing to sign a new deal with Valencia and it is believed that the interest from Barcelona is the reason behind his reluctance.

Spanish midfielder should be available for a fee of about €20 million while the overall operation should cost less than €50 million and it would represent a nice profit for the club if they manage to sell De Jong for the quoted sum.

There are claims the Soler deal is much more advanced than many would think and that the player himself, has agreed to the conditions Barcelona put forward. The only thing he is waiting to see is what happens with de Jong in the summer.
