Barcelona to offload Braithwaite

Barcelona are said to be looking to offload their Danish striker, Martin Braithwaite just five months after his controversial transfer from Leganes.

Barcelona signed 29-year old Braithwaite on an emergency deal after exploiting a La Liga rule which allowed them to make new signings outside the transfer window following long-term injuries to Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez in addition to the sale of Carles Perez to Roma in January.

Braithwaite cost the blaugrana around €18m to move from relegation battling Leganes at the time but failed to make the kind of impact that the Barcelona hierarchy had believed he would make as he could only register a single goal in the eleven league appearances that he made for the club.

Braithwaite is not registered to play in the champions league with Barcelona while Dembele and Suarez have returned from their layoffs pushing Braithwaite further down on the pecking order. Barcelona are now looking to recoup the €18m they invested in the player while a host of English and Spanish clubs are rumoured to be interested.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Everton and West Ham are leading the interest to sign the former Middlesbrough striker in a move that will see him return to England while Real Valladolid, Sevilla, and Real Sociedad are reportedly keen on making a move for the Danish international.

Braithwaite made thirty five appearances in La Liga last season for Leganes and Barcelona, scoring seven goals and providing two assists.
