A new name has now appeared and it seems like the club are ready to make their move as they feel that he would be able to improve their team and also be available for an affordable price.

Inter Milan defender, Stefan De Vrij is the player that Barcelona have identified as the perfect fit for their squad and they have taken concrete steps towards bringing him to the club in the summer.

Represented by Super agent, Mino Raiola, the Dutch defender whose contract with the current Italian League champions is set to expire in 2023 and the club has not given any indication that they plan to renew with the player, the Blaugrana have contacted his agent to know the conditions necessary for them to sign the player.

The player could become available for a fee of about €30 million and given his qualities, this should be considered a steal should the transfer eventually happen.

English Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the player and they could match whatever fee Barca want to pay while also offering a better salary, plus the lure of playing under Antonio Conte, his former coach, who is now at Tottenham.

Meanwhile…

Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez has expressed his happiness at the opportunity to coach Spanish midfielder, Gavi and help him development his game.

Gavi, 17-years, has been in fine form for the club this season and has a high level of understanding of the game that belays his age. Speaking during the pre-match conference ahead of barca’s La Liga Match away to Espanyol, he had these to say:

“The situations where he steals balls, which are many, when he puts pressure after losses, it’s extraordinary” he said, “He turns very well, he knows how to retain shape, he knows how to be the third man, he knows when he has to come inside. At just 17 years old his performance is spectacular. It’s wonderful to train him.”

Barcelona will be hoping to get the maximum points against their city rivals as the race for the top four continues in the Spanish La Liga.
