“Barcelona Will Win The league, The Copa del Rey And The Champions League”

Written by Olaleye Oluwadamilola

Joan Gaspart, former Barcelona’s president has given a bold claim backing his former side to win an unlikely treble this season amidst the club’s financial struggles and on field performance.

More Details

According to Sport, Gaspart who presided over Barcelona from 2000 to 2003 has predicted that the Catalan team will have an undefeated second half of the season.

All Spanish clubs have had time to reflect on their season thus far over the winter break. It has been a painful one for Barcelona, mostly because of their recent bad performance. Despite making it to the Champions League knockout stages, they are now seven points behind Real Madrid and Girona in fourth place in La Liga.

2024 will see Xavi Hernandez’s team get off to a quick start beginning with the match against Las Palmas the following week. Former president Joan Gaspart is one individual who thinks that if they can accomplish that, their fortunes will start to rapidly turn around.

“The league, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League will be won by us.”

With the playing field currently even, Barcelona will think they have as strong a chance as anyone in the final two competitions. To close the gap with Real Madrid and Girona, though, they must begin winning games in La Liga on a regular basis. It could be argued by some that Gaspart is acting blindly.

Vitor Roque landed in Barcelona earlier this week in preparation for his transfer to the Catalan giants. The 18-year-old forward had a deal agreed upon with Athletico Paranaense back in the summer, but he was unable to join until recently for financial reasons.

The anticipation for Roque, who will formally be introduced as a Barcelona player on Wednesday, March 1st, will only grow. The Brazilian is anticipated to go for the opening game of 2024 which will pit Xavi Hernandez’s team against Las Palmas, 24 hours later.

But as Sport points out, there’s very little chance he plays any part. As it stands, the current plan is for him to make his club debut three days later in the Copa del Rey against Barbastro.

Roque wouldn’t be able to make his La Liga debut until January 21 when the Catalans play Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin, since Barcelona will then travel to Riyadh for the Spanish Super Cup.
