Amid a tense backdrop of ongoing player protests that have drawn global attention across all LaLiga EA Sports venues, the much-anticipated FC Barcelona vs Villarreal fixture in Miami originally scheduled for December 20 has been thrown into uncertainty.
The presale for the match tickets was unexpectedly delayed, fueling widespread speculation that the game had been called off. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the disruption is believed to be the result of a technical issue in the presale system rather than a cancellation, and the matter is expected to be resolved soon.
The situation unfolds just as tensions between the Spanish Players’ Association (AFE) and LaLiga are set to reach a new stage, with both parties scheduled to meet on Wednesday specifically to discuss the Miami match.
As gathered, the meeting was arranged after LaLiga agreed to a formal request from the players’ union, which has voiced strong concerns over the organization and transparency of the proposed overseas fixture.

Meanwhile, Barcelola all but confirmed that the game won't be able to go on in Miami through an official statement which read;
"FC Barcelona respects and accept the decision to cancel the game against Villarreal in Miami corresponding to week 17 of La Liga, in the same way that the Club accepted and respected the decision taken in the past to play the game in the US.
"FC Barcelona regret the missed opportunity to expand the competition's image in a strategic market with a great capacity for growth and generation of resources for everyone.
"The Club is grateful for the unconditional support and affection of our fans in the USA and regrets deeply that they are denied the opportunity to see an official game in their country."
AFE president David Aganzo, who will represent the players during the talks, has maintained close communication with team representatives throughout the escalating dispute. He has also signaled that the union may consider further action if LaLiga fails to provide complete and satisfactory details regarding the Miami event.
