The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has given a new date for the Spanish Super Cup tie between Barcelona and Athletic Club due to the Valencia DANA flooding.

More Details

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced a change to the 2025 Spanish Super Cup schedule on November 12th. Due to weather disturbances caused by the DANA event, the single judge for non-professional competitions decided to rearrange the semi-final matches.

As a result of this change, the first semi-final will now feature Barcelona against Athletic Club on January 8th, 2025, at 10:00 PM CET (12:00 AM in Yida). Hansi Flick’s led team who finished second last time in the 2023/24 La Liga campaign will take on Athletic Club, who qualified by winning the Copa del Rey.

The second semi-final will be played between Real Madrid, the 2023-2024 LaLiga champions, and Mallorca, the Copa del Rey finalists, on January 9th, 2025, at 10:00 PM CET (12:00 AM in Arabia).

This rescheduling aims to accommodate fixture disruptions caused by the adverse weather conditions.

Barcelona have also announced another legendary El-Classico on the cards with the club legends and Real Madrid Leyendas set to face off in a historic match at the Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo, Japan on December 15th, 2024.

This will be their first-ever meeting in Japan, just two weeks after their clash in Doha, Qatar.

The match will feature a star-studded lineup, including Andrés Iniesta, Xavi Hernández, Javier Mascherano, and Rafa Márquez, who will be making their first appearances for Barcelona Legends since 2018, 2015, 2018, and 2010, respectively. Other notable players like Rivaldo, Bojan Krkic, and Ludovic Giuly are also expected to participate.

The Barça Legends program, established in 2016, aims to unite former players and promote Barcelona’s global brand. This upcoming match in Japan is a significant event for the program and a great opportunity for fans to witness football legends in action.
