Written By Onyeka Daniel
The future of Chelsea defender, Andres Christensen is still very much uncertain with many conflicting reports of whether he wants to stay or leave the club.
More Details
It’s being said that the player wants to play regularly, more than he’s playing at the moment with the Blues, hence the reason why he’s seeking for a move away from the club while other news outlets are reporting that the player wants more money than he currently earns at the club.

All in all, it looks like the player could become available as free agent in the summer if he doesn’t sign a new contract and Barcelona are said to be well placed to take advantage of this as they’re in dire need of defensive reinforcement.
With Pique not getting any younger while Clement Lenglet, Samuel Umtiti and Eric Garcia all suffering from various forms of injuries with Ronald Araujo the only reliable defensive option.
The Blaugrana are in the market for a centre-back, but they’re not alone in the chase for the Danish defender. German Champions, Bayern Munich are also interested in the player.
Following the announcement that Niklas Sule will be joining Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season, the Bavarians are ready to sign a couple of central defenders.
While the club are said to prefer signing Antonio Rudiger, his salary demands could prove to be a stumbling block, hence the club will drop their gaze to Christensen and are set to offer him a salary of €11 million per year, a figure that would be hard for Barca to match.
Meanwhile…
Barcelona may have to do without the services of their Uruguayan defender, Ronald Araujo for the next couple of games after getting injured in the match against Espanyol.

Barcelona needed a late goal to grab a point in a disappointing match that also saw Gerald Pique red carded. Araujo limped off during the clash and it has now been confirmed that he suffered an aggravation in the right calf.
It’s not clear how long Araujo will miss, with further tests required and he could be out for Barcelona’s next two games against Napoli in the Europa league and against Valencia at the weekend in the Spanish La Liga.
