Beth Mead’s Goal Gifts England A Dream Start To Euro 2022

It was a dream start for the host, Lionesses of England as the Sarina Wiegman’s ward edged Austria 1-0 in the opening game of UEFA Women’s Euro 2022.

The solitary goal of the game came in the 17th minute as Fran Kirby’s dinked ball in-behind perfectly matched the run of Beth Mead, who in turn chipped over Arsenal teammate Manuela Zinsberger with a half volley.

Austria’s Carina Wenninger had seemingly hooked the ball off the line and onto the crossbar in time, but goal-line technology confirmed the ball crossed the line, and the host broke out in a wild celebration.
