Bompastor Confirms Injury Setbacks For Walsh, Beever-Jones, Macario, Charles Ahead Of Palace Clash

Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor has confirmed that Keira Walsh, Aggie Beever-Jones, Catarina Macario, and Niamh Charles will all miss the Blues’ upcoming fixture against Crystal Palace.

More Details

Speaking ahead of the match, Bompastor provided an update on the quartet’s fitness, stressing that while progress is being made, none will be risked this weekend.

“Keira and Aggie won’t be available for the game this weekend. But both are in a good place in their rehab plan, and both are close to a return,” Bompastor said.

On Macario, the Chelsea boss revealed the forward has been dealing with a lingering issue since before the Christmas period.

“Cat had some heel pain before Christmas and she’s managing that. She’s progressing in her rehab and heading in the right direction, but won’t be available for the weekend,” she explained.

Bompastor also addressed Charles’ situation, confirming the defender is battling ankle problems that have resurfaced.

“Niamh is managing some ankle pain. She had an injury during the first part of the season, and the ankle has flared up. The irritation is a bit higher now, and we are managing that to make sure she can play without pain.”

Looking ahead, the Chelsea coach suggested that a return for Macario and Charles could come sooner rather than later.

“We’ll assess Cat and Niamh to see if they can be involved with the team next week,” she added.

Chelsea will therefore be without four key players as they prepare for the Crystal Palace encounter, with Bompastor opting for caution as the club navigates a busy phase of the season.
