The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has warned the Brazilian Federation that it could suspend its national teams and clubs from participating in international competitions.

More Details

The warning by FIFA was addressed in a letter signed by Kenny Jean-Marie, director of member associations, and CONMEBOL (South America Football Confederation) undersecretary-general Monserrat Jimenez Garcia on Sunday.

FIFA and CONMEBOL also said in their letter that they will form a commission to discuss the matter in Brazil on January 8, 2024.

It was stated that no decision on CBF should be taken on or before that day.

Any decision taken contrary to such will attract FIFA sanction.

The two federations are acting on interference pertaining to the conduct of the Confederation of Brazilian Football (CBF) Election slated for 30 working days.

Another issue is the request of the State Court of Rio Janeiro to appoint an interim Board of Directors for CBF to manage its affairs.

According to FIFA, the above equals interference from a third party which is against FIFA statutes expected to be adhered to by Member Associations (MA).
