English Premier League side, Leicester City have relieved their manager, Brendan Rodgers of his job as coach of the team after another abysmal result against Crystal Palace yesterday.

Yesterday’s loss was their 18th of the season with Southampton in the 20th position on the table having lost more than them this season in the EPL. It should be recalled that Crystal Palace recently sacked their coach too, with Roy Hodgson marking his second stint with the Eagles with a win.

A club statement read: “Leicester City Football Club has reached a mutual agreement with Brendan Rodgers that will see him leave the Club after four years as our Men’s First Team Manager.”

While no further statement has been released on who will be in charge, the Foxes, who by the virtue of their loss yesterday slipped to the 19th position on tbe table will be facing Aston Villa in the midweek for their next EPL fixture.

The club Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha in his own statement had these to say: “Performances and results during the current season have been below our shared expectations.

“It had been our belief that continuity and stability would be key to correcting our course, particularly given our previous achievements under Brendan’s management.

“Regrettably, the desired improvement has not been forthcoming and, with 10 games of the season remaining, the board is compelled to take alternative action to protect our Premier League status.

“The task ahead of us in our final 10 games is clear. We now need to come together – fans, players and staff – and show the poise, quality and fight to secure our position as a Premier League club.”

Rodgers, who recently celebrated four years in charge at the King Power, delivered two top-five finishes in the Premier League and the club’s first ever FA Cup success in 2021. Yesterday’s loss made it 5 losses in 6 EPL games plus their loss to Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup.
