CAF Maps Out Road To WAFCON 2024 Glory

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted the draw for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) amidst the CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.

12 teams qualified for the tournament, which will be hosted by Morocco, and were pitted into three groups of four teams.
Host Morocco will face 2022 bronze medalists in Zambia, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in Group A.
Record nine-time champions Nigeria, which recently played a two-legged friendly match with Algeria in Ikenne and Lagos, will rekindle such a matchup in Group B.

The Super Falcons will also play against another North African side, Tunisia and Botswana in the same group.
Justine Madugu’s side met Botswana at the group stage of the last tournament, which Morocco also hosted and recorded victory, which sealed their place in the quarter-final.
Holders, South Africa are up against Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania in Group C.

Banyana Banyana edged Morocco 2-1 to win the title in 2022, which was their first.
Equatorial Guinea had won the trophy on two occasions but didn’t qualify for the 13th edition of the competition.
