CAF WCQ: Morocco Bashed Guinea Bissau

Despite the fact that bulk of Guinea Bissau players were hospitalised after eating food poisoning and showing symptoms of general diarrhea, the match between them and Morocco was played and the outcome was embarrassing for the visitors.

The Djurtus were no match for their host, Atlas Lions of Morocco who cruised to a comfortable 5-0 victory over them in their 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifying match on Wednesday.

The West African country complained of a crisis that struck their team after they had their dinner on Tuesday, with players and members of the technical crew vomiting with diarrhoea.

After complaining about the issue on social media with the hope of having the match postponed, the match commissioner ordered the encounter to go ahead at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah.

From the blast of the whistle, the Moroccans dominated the game with their opponents offering very little going forward in the entire game as Coach Vahid Halilhodzic men put five unanswered goals past their visitors.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi started the party for Morocco with the opening goal in the 31st minute and Imran Louza doubled the lead from the penalty spot, just before half-time.

The Atlas Lions continued their dominance in the second half, and four minutes after the restart, Ilias Chair added the third goal past Guinea Bissau goalkeeper Jonas Mendes with a superb strike and just after the hour mark striker Ayoub El Kaabi scored a beautiful acrobatic kick from a close range to make it 4-0.

And eight minutes from time, Munir El Haddadi put the icing on the cake scoring Atlas Lions’ fifth of the night as Morocco ended the game in style.

Both sides will lock horns again next Sunday in Casablanca.

Sudan had to come from behind to pick first World Cup qualification point.

Saif Eldin Terry stepped off the bench to score the equalizer as Sudan earned their first Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers Group I point with a 1-1 draw against Guinea at the Grand Stade in Marrakech, Morocco on Wednesday.

The Guineans had gone ahead through Mohamed Bayo, but the Sudanese, playing their home matches in Morocco fought back for a point after losing their first two matches.

Both goals were scored in the second half.
