Calhanoglu Discloses The Secret To His Best Season Ahead Of The Liverpool Clash

Inter Milan midfielder, Hakan Calhanoglu ahead of the much anticipated tie in the Round 16 of the Champions League has revealed the secret to his best season since his move to Italy.

The 28 year old has scored six goals in a single Serie A season just once since he moved to Italy in the summer of 2017 and this happened in the his first season at the club playing 31 games. 

But after joining the Rossoneri’s city rival Inter Milan, Calhanoglu has scored 6 goals in his 21 league appearances providing 8 assists while at it, with incredible performances that won him the Serie A player of the month for the month November.

Ahead of the big clash against Liverpool on Wednesday, the Turkey international acknowledged the contributions his teammates while revealing the secret to an impressive debut season with the Nerazzurri.

“I think the secret is my heart and mentality. I’ve joined a team with a winning mentality, which is why I came here. I thank my team-mates, as they’ve really helped me out. 

“I play in a different position under the boss and I really like it because I get more of the ball, then the rest has to come from me, my quality and my team-mates.” Calhanoglu explains.

On his consistency, the former Milan midfielder attributed the success to the coach and the entire crew.

“I’ve improved thanks to the boss and his coaching staff. They’re here every day to help the players improve. I feel that and I give my all on the pitch.”

Hakan Calhanoglu did not shy away from commenting about the fans of his previous employers in the red side of Milan who called him names after refusing to sign a new contract before jumping ship to the Nerazzurri.

When asked at the press conference of their clash against Liverpool if he expect to be in all fronts, the creative midfielder did not hold back.

“I’m very pleased. In six months, I’ve won a trophy that had eluded me. I also want to win the Coppa Italia, but the Champions League is always a dream. 

We’ll see what happens tomorrow. We have to be united and show what we can do on the pitch. If we can play our game tomorrow, I think we’ll do well.” Calhanoglu said.
