Ferrari confirmed on Thursday that Carlos Sainz will stay with them for another two years.
The news comes just hours before the first practice race in Imola, Italy, the home ground of the F1 team.
It is a great feeling for the Spanish driver who has had a great start to the season to continue his stay with the most successful F1 team.
“I have always said that there is no better Formula One team to race for and after over a year with them, I can confirm that putting on this race suit and representing this team is unique and incomparable,” Sainz said.
“My first season at Maranello was solid and constructive, with the whole group progressing together. The result of all that work has been clear to see so far season.”
The former Renault and McLaren driver already has five pole to his name since he joined the F1 team. Two already this season, in Bahrain and Jeddah finishing second and third respectively.
Sainz is currently third in the championship after Ferrari’s stunning start to the season, 38 points behind leader Leclerc.

Leclerc Is Happy Over Sainz’s Contract Renewal
Current leader of the driver’s standings, Charles Leclerc has expressed delight ovevjis teammate’s contract renewal to stay for another two years.
“I’m very happy, Carlos is a great guy as well as a very good driver. We have a very good relationship. We work together very well.” Leclerc told Ferrari news.
The pairing of the two drivers have been tremendous resulting in great results which have led to the Ferrari leading the constructors standing.
Besides, Leclerc also sits as number one on the drivers’ standings and his partner occupying the third position.
