Lamine Yamal

Written by Olaleye Oluwadamilola

Cash-strapped Barcelona need to sell players, but wonderkid Lamine Yamal (16) is untouchable. He’s a starter for both club and country, even starring at Euro 2024. Despite a rejected €200m bid (rumored to be PSG) and a potential €250m offer, Barcelona insists he’s not for sale.

More Details

The 16-year-old has made a significant impact for Barcelona over the past year, establishing himself not only as a regular starter for the club but also as a key player for the Spanish national team. His performances at Euro 2024 have continued to impress.

Earlier this year, Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed that a €200m bid for Lamine Yamal had been turned down, although the bidding club, later revealed to be Paris Saint-Germain, was not explicitly named. PSG sees the young talent as an ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is set to join Real Madrid after the Euros although his move has already being confirmed by the Spanish powerhouse.

According to MD, Barcelona anticipates a potential €250m offer from PSG in the coming weeks, but they are steadfast in their refusal to sell him at any price. The club’s position is unequivocal: Lamine Yamal is not available for transfer under any circumstances.

Despite PSG’s interest, Barcelona remains confident due to Yamal’s staggering €1bn release clause, a figure that would require negotiations with the player’s representatives. However, Barcelona is grateful that such discussions are not currently necessary.

Real Madrid C. F. has exercised their option to acquire the rights of Joselu Mato from R. C. D. Espanyol and subsequently reached an agreement with Al-Gharafa SC for the transfer of the player.

Joselu first joined Real Madrid’s academy in 2010 at the age of 20, beginning his tenure with Castilla where he played for two seasons and contributed to their promotion to the Second Division during the 2011-2012 campaign.

During the 2023-2024 season, Joselu made 49 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 18 goals and achieving success with three trophies: one Champions League title, one LaLiga championship, and one Spanish Super Cup.

His pivotal two goals in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern München played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s journey to the final at Wembley, where they secured their 15th European Cup.

Real Madrid expresses gratitude to Joselu for his professionalism and dedication to the club, and extends best wishes to him and his family for success in this new chapter of their lives.
