Atletico Madrid and Levante UD were in contention for the final Champions League spot with the former having a point lead ahead of the latter before kick off but it was Atletico Madrid that secured the final qualification ticket on their last game of the season.

Champions FC Barcelona and Real Madrid had picked the first two Champions League tickets ahead of the final day while Atletico Madrid joined them after amassing 61 points in third place, a point better than Levante UD.
