More Details
With Chelsea and Manchester City tied on the same point ahead of the last game of the season, it was clear that the league winners would be decided on goal difference which came into play.
With a 6-0 win at Old Trafford, the Blues say farewell to Hayes by securing a fifth WSL title in a row, due to a +7 better goal difference than Manchester City.
Mayra Ramirez, back in the side after four games out injured, headed in a Guro reiten cross with the game barely underway to spectacularly set the tone for what was to follow.
Before long, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd used her considerable pace to race away and slot the second goal and although Manchester United struck the Chelsea woodwork, it was 4-0 in favour of the Blues by the break.
The Blues then netted as quickly at the start of the second half as we had at the commencement of the first - Melanie Leupoldz with her first goal of the season - and then towards the end came a very special moment – Fran Kirby bagging her 116th goal for the club to bring down the curtain on another majestic Chelsea career.
The final whistle heralded the 16th trophy in the 12 years of the great Emma Hayes.
She will take over as coach of the United States Women's National Team (USWNT) as she ends her time as coach of Chelsea FC on a high note.
Meanwhile...
Understandably describing herself as exhausted, not only by the season just completed but by the whole 12 years of unprecedented success, Emma Hayes says it was with reluctance that she allowed her championship-winning players to push her into the spotlight after the 6-0 title-clinching win at Old Trafford.
"Cringy’ was how Hayes described being thrust forward to take the deserved acclaim.

"But yes, it was the perfect day. Mayra only did one half-session in training, yesterday, and maybe in normal circumstances, she wouldn't play today. You could see her hamstring taped up and to be honest, I didn't know if she was going to be available for the game.
"But she speaks Spanish, I speak Spanish, and I said are you're ready, and she I'm playing, and she was absolutely sensational in the first half - but the whole team were."
