Written By Onyeka Daniel
Despite the not so great form of Chelsea currently, the club is moving to secure some of their important players for the future as they look to bounce back from next season. England defender, Ben Chilwell will soon sign a four year contract with the club to ward off the interest from Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.

The left-back will soon enter the final two years of his current contract and Chelsea are apparently keen to try and tie him down to a longer deal.
The interest in Chilwell from Manchester City has always been there, even before he made the move from Leicester city to the Stamford Bridge and now Todd Boehly can now be rest assured of not losing a top talent anytime soon.

With this new contract, the player would be contracted to the club until 2027. He has been one of Chelsea’s stars this campaign despite it being a troublesome year for the club who suffered their 11th league defeat of the season away to Wolves at the weekend.
He lifted the Champions League with the club a year after making his £50million move from Leicester City but was then denied further progression after a serious knee injury saw him go under the knife and forced into the treatment room for over five months.
A hamstring injury this season followed and ruled him out of the Qatar World Cup with England before he returned to club action at the start of February.
Under different coaches, he has completed with Spanish defender, Marc Cucurella for Chelsea’s left-back starting position and is usually favored over the former Brighton player, especially by the previous manager, Graham Potter.
But in the defeat to Wolves over Wolves at the weekend, Frank Lampard preferred to play Cucurella but Chilwell gave a good account of himself when he came on in the second half and the belief is that the coach is saving him for the game against Real Madrid in the UCL on Wednesday.

Leicester city have been rejected in their approach to appoint former Leeds United coach, Jesse Marsch as their new coach after sacking Brendan Rodgers.
He was sacked as Leeds United head coach in February and was the front-runner for a quick return to take charge of Leicester and was even in attendance for their 1-0 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday.

It is now said that Marsch will not take up the vacant role at Leicester because he feels the club would ‘need a different approach in the Championship next season if they were to be relegated’, which is what informed his decision.
The former Red Bull Salzburg coach would also require a different ‘profile of player to the one that he is accustomed to recruiting’.
