As the Blues look to beat two Premier League rivals to the Dutchman’s signature, Chelsea are reportedly now considering signing Ajax defender Jorrel Hato.
More Details
The 19-year-old, who has already made 108 appearances for Ajax across all competitions, has four goals and nine assists, making him the most recent jewel to come out of the renowned Amsterdam academy.

Ajax acted swiftly to sign Hato to a new contract last year due to his meteoric rise to stardom, and the 2006-born protégé won’t be eligible to sign a free agency contract until the summer of 2028.
With three goals and six assists from 47 appearances in all competitions this season, Hato has continued to improve. The Dutchman currently plays left defence.
Even though they were able to guarantee Hato’s future last year, Ajax will find it difficult to hold onto the 19-year-old if he continues to play well in the face of interest from Europe’s superpowers.
Chelsea are reportedly one of those interested parties and are ‘seriously considering’ making a bid for Hato when the summer transfer market opens, according to reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

The Dutch defender has several ‘admirers’ at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues have reportedly been closely monitoring the 19-year-old for a while.
But in order to get Hato, who was reportedly linked with a big money move to Real Madrid in another report, Chelsea might have to stave off interest from Liverpool and Arsenal. With an assist in that 6-0 victory over Gibraltar, Hato made his senior debut for the Netherlands at the age of 17. He currently has six caps for his country.
In the first leg of Oranje’s quarterfinal matchup with Spain in the UEFA Nations League, the Ajax protégé started at left-back. However, he was sent off in the second half and missed his country’s penalty-shootout loss in the second leg.
