The Frenchman has enjoyed a stunning spell with the Blues, winning every possible trophy thus far. At the same time, he has enjoyed success on the international stage, winning the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
This season, he has been faced with injuries, which has made him miss many games for the Blues and even the just concluded World Cup with France, but that hasn’t stopped the interest in him as he’s still a force to be reckoned with if he stays fit.
For Spanish LaLiga side, Barcelona, they’re on the lookout for a player to replace Sergio Busquets, who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season in their squad and Kante could be that player.
The fact that he would be coming for free is a big plus but the club wants to be sure he’s fully fit before commiting to a player that is not expected to start training until February. That is why Kante is reportedly asking the Catalan club for a pre-contract agreement with the Spanish side before he can commit to their project.
The Catalans have the likes of Martin Zubimendi and Ruben Neves as their first choice, but none of them is expected to come cheap and given the financial situation of the club, they won’t have plenty of rooms to spend that much, hence the reason why they’re considering Kante.
