Chelsea have expressed interest in Djordje Petrovic, and the Blues are apparently in talks with the Revs as they look for a backup for Robert Sanchez at Stamford Bridge.

The player's will may end up being the deciding factor in discussions, despite New England's best efforts to retain Petrovic through the remainder of the Major League Soccer season.

Petrovic, who was signed to replace Turner last summer, was a finalist for MLS Goalkeeper of the Year the previous year and has likely improved upon that performance in 2023.

This season, Petrovic was selected an MLS All-Star, and clubs in France and England have expressed interest in him due to his abilities. With 43 points from 23 games, New England is currently second in the Eastern Conference.

They also have the second-highest goal differential in the MLS, plus-14. With MLS action set to resume the following week, following the Leagues Cup final between Nashville and Inter Miami, the team will be loath to lose him at such a pivotal point in the season.

Meanwhile…

The LA Galaxy’s 2023 campaign has not been the easiest. LA Galaxy were once the dominant powerhouse and in Major League Soccer, are currently ranked 13th out of 14 teams in the Western Conference this season with three MLS teams scoring less goals.

But Riqui Puig’s development as a legitimate MLS star has undoubtedly been a plus for LA Galaxy this year. The player is not planning on going back to Europe anytime soon, which is even better news for the Galaxy. This report comes directly from the club’s head coach and sports director.

Greg Vanney made it clear in his interview with The Athletic that the Galaxy have big hopes for Puig in the future. “He’s our guy that we want to continue to build around and build with,” Vanney said.
