According to reports on Monday, an agreement was reached between Chelsea and New England to move Djordje Petrovic. After a great season and a half in North America, one of Major League Soccer's top goalkeepers will depart for England on Wednesday. He'll have a real chance to become the Blues' starting goalkeeper.

Petrovic's path to the Premier League was built in the FK Cukariki academy, where he first enrolled in 2014 and later graduated to make his Serbian professional debut. Before moving to the United States in 2022, Petrovic made 78 first-team appearances for Cukariki.

In a masterful display of scouting, New England found maybe a better goalkeeper than Matt Turner, who was traded to Arsenal before the previous season.

This season, Petrovic was selected as an MLS All-Star, and his steady play rekindled interest in Europe.

The American ownership group of Chelsea, Clearlake Capital, has never shied away from making a big investment, and it has done so once more in this case to entice Petrovic away from MLS as the Revs compete for playoff status.

Once approved, the Petrovic deal will rank among the most expensive in Major League Soccer history.

As one of the first MLS stars, Landon Donovan was asked to comment on the disputed Leagues Cup match between Inter Miami and Nashville SC.

This situation gave Landon Donovan the arguments to throw a dart at Liga MX and ensure that American soccer has already surpassed Mexican soccer. Landon Donovan has been a great supporter of the MLS since he played in the league during the early stages of the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The biggest topic of discussion leading up to the recent Leagues Cup was which of the two leagues was better, and as Donovan revealed in an interview for Apple TV, MLS now has more arguments than Mexican football.
