According to Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are preparing to make an assault for Sevilla defender, Jules Kounde and they’re ready to make a significant offer that would be close to the valuation set by the Andalusian club for their French defender.

Kounde’s release clause is €80 million, but it is thought he will be sold for closer to €65 million. Chelsea are keen to strengthen at centre-back this summer. They have lost Andreas Christensen to Barcelona and Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid so are in need of bodies.

He joined Sevilla from Bordeaux in the summer of 2019 and has since gone on to become one of the finest centre-backs in La Liga.

Last season, he formed a fearsome partnership with Diego Carlos and the pair were responsible for the club’s excellent performances as they conceded the least number of goals in the Spanish La Liga with Kounde named the best defender in the League at the end of the season.

Diego Carlos has already joined Aston Villa and his partner is expected to follow soon in moving to the English Premier League.

Meanwhile…

Villarreal winger, Arnaut Danjuma has said that he’s happy at the club and is not considering leaving the club with reports that Liverpool want to sign the Netherlands international as replacement for Sadio Mane.

Danjuma enjoyed an excellent 2021/22 season, helping the Yellow Submarine defy expectations by reaching the Champions League semi-finals, where they were eventually knocked out by Liverpool after they had defeated Bayern Munich in the previous round.

“It’s a bit of a funny story, to be fair”, he told Sky Sports. “We’ve all read what has been said in the press, but I am a quick learner. I did an interview in Holland saying I’m aware of the interest. They asked me if I was aware of it and I am, as everyone is. I’m aware of it, you are aware of it because it has been in the press. My phone literally went off all the time.

“In that sense, I am aware of it because of the media but I never actually confirmed the interest from Liverpool because the only one that confirms it to me is my team. I haven’t heard anything from my team and as it stands now, I am enjoying my football at Villarreal. I am really happy there. We had a fantastic season.” He further added.
