Written By Albert Echatah
Sam Jewell, the head of recruitment of Brighton, has been appointed by Chelsea, defeating likes of Manchester United for the signature of the in-demand head of recruitment.
More Details
The Seagulls have put the 34-year-old on gardening leave after he told them he wanted to sign with Chelsea.
Sam, the son of former Wigan manager Paul Jewell, has played a significant role in the recent success of the Seagulls. He has been in charge of the club’s hiring, overseeing their worldwide talent search, especially in South America.
The Englishman has been credited with bringing in Alexis Mac Allister, Marc Cucurella, and Moises Caicedo for a total of £4.5 million. After moving to Chelsea, two of those players brought in over £175 million for Brighton.
According to reports, before Jewell moved to Old Trafford, Dan Ashworth begged Manchester United to try to sign him.
Jewell is regarded as the top recruiter in the United Kingdom, which is what Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team are looking for—the “best in class.”Nevertheless, Chelsea prevailed, and Jewell will begin employment at Stamford Bridge in November.

Meanwhile…
It has been implied by Albert Sambi Lokonga that he still hopes to succeed at Arsenal. The expectation was that the midfield player from Anderlecht, who the Gunners paid £15 million to sign in 2021, would become a mainstay in Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup.
Rather than making an impression at the Emirates Stadium, the Belgium international has only been able to make 14 starts and 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League till January 2023.
At that moment, Arteta approved his loan to Crystal Palace, where he played nine more first-team games without really contributing anything. He then made a brief move to newly promoted Luton Town.
