Chicago Fire’s sole goal came from Philip Zinckernagel, marking his ninth goal of the season and seventh scored away from home.

FC Cincinnati opened the scoring in the 19th minute. After a sustained period of pressure, midfielder Evander gained possession outside the penalty area, took a few touches, and then unleashed a powerful shot that found the far corner of the net, bringing his season total to 12 goals.

The home team doubled their lead just five minutes into the second half. Evander capitalized on a Chicago throw-in, engaging in a quick give-and-go with forward Kei Kamara on the right wing.

He then delivered a precise pass to an unmarked Kevin Denkey on the left, who easily converted the breakaway opportunity. Chicago retaliated in the 56th minute.

Winger Jonathan Bamba skillfully controlled the ball at the edge of the box, creating space for defender Andrew Gutman’s overlapping run on the left. Gutman received the pass and laid it off to an open area inside the six-yard box, where Zinckernagel arrived to score his ninth goal of the season.

This goal energized the Fire, but the Orange and Blue’s defense held strong, clinching their seventh home win, the most in the league.

Chicago will play San Diego FC for the first time ever at Soldier Field. The interconference game starts at 7:30 p.m. CT.
