Chicago Stars to Build Club-Owned Training Facility in Bannockburn by 2027

The Chicago Stars are making a major long-term investment in their future, announcing plans to open a club-owned training facility on a 10-acre site in suburban Bannockburn by 2027.

Construction on the private facility is set to begin this spring, marking a significant step in the club’s ongoing rebuild after finishing last in the NWSL standings in 2025.

“This facility will set the standard in women’s professional soccer by providing the infrastructure our players need to develop to their highest level of performance,” said executive chairperson Laura Ricketts.

The new training ground reinforces the Stars’ broader reset, which has included a brand overhaul and a decision to relocate home matches from SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview to Northwestern University’s Martin Stadium starting in 2026.

New head coach Martin Sjögren emphasized the competitive value of the project, noting that the environment is designed to optimize performance and attract elite talent.

“The environment will eliminate distractions to maximize the energy and focus our athletes are able to dedicate to their craft,” Sjögren said.

“It will also help us continue to draw top-level talent to Chicago.”

With upgraded infrastructure, a new home venue, and renewed leadership, the Stars are positioning themselves for a stronger future in the NWSL, both on and off the pitch.
