Written By Onyeka Daniel
For the past few days, it has been quiet so far on Inter Milan’s pursuit of Ademola Lookman and while they’re reportedly not considering alternatives for now, the club is looking to advance towards other targets, specifically for their defence.
More Details
Hence, according to reports, they’re now ready to accelerate their bid to sign Parma’s Giovanni Leoni and in order not to jeopardise the Lookman deal, the former Serie A champions might have to sacrifice at least one player to fund the move for the centre-back.

With Christian Chivu keen to bring another of his former player to his new club after poaching Ange-Yoan Bonny, the Romanian coach has an idea which player he can do without in the current squad to make room for Leoni, but the club might be nursing a different idea.
According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, either one of Benjamin Pavard or Yann Bisseck will be sacrificed as the club is expecting bids from EPL clubs, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace to try again in their pursuit of Bisseck, after already rejecting two €35m offer this summer.
Inter are not the only team interested in Leoni, with Juventus and Liverpool also linked to the 18-year-old and this has now forced the Nerazzurri to move forward with their plans. For Chivu, he would reportedly rather part ways with Pavard than Bisseck, but it is the latter that has been attracting plenty of interest so far.
With PSG signing Ilya Zabarnyi from Bournemouth, the Premier league club will now be on the lookout for a replacement, but if Palace or Bournemouth decide to try again for Bisseck and raise their offer to an irresistible €40m, the Nerazzurri may choose to accept, despite Chivu’s desire to keep the German.
Meanwhile, the exit of Sebastian Esposito can also have an impact as Inter tries to raise funds to make a move for Leoni. The saga is coming to a close, one way or another, as Cagliari must match the Parma proposal by tonight or lose the Inter striker.
This has been dragging on since July 3, when the Sardinians made the first approach for the centre-forward but Parma are in there too and over the last few days have increased their offer to put themselves in the lead and this would be the ideal club for Inter.
It is not over yet, but the clock is ticking and a final decision will be made over the weekend by the player. Furthermore, Cagliari have the option of matching the Parma bid tonight, as the gap between them in terms of transfer fee and cut of the future sale really is minimal at this point.
In a related development, Leeds United are reportedly ahead of Fulham in the race for Inter striker Mehdi Taremi according to SportMediaset. The 33-year-old had a very underwhelming first season in Italy. Therefore, there is a widespread feeling that he will be on his way after just one year.

There have been plenty of clubs to show an interest with the likes of Botafogo and Flamengo who have tried to bring him to Brazil. However, his priority has been to stay in Europe. Also, Turkish giants, Bestikas have also been eyeing up a move for him, but it’s not serious yet.
Meanwhile, the interest from the Premier League is gradually arriving and is very enticing. The report named two teams in particular as being keen to sign the Iranian international. Leeds United and Fulham and according to the report, it is newly-promoted Leeds who have the edge.
Daniel Farke’s side have emerged with a strong interest in Taremi’s signature. Therefore, they are the leading candidates to sign him while Inter is ready to accept €10m-€15m as they look to raise funds for their own summer targets like Leoni and Ademola Lookman.

Furthermore, signing Leoni will help them reduce the overall age of their squad as the club will be able to release Francesco Acerbi one year early from his contract by paying him €500k with the young defender coming as replacement, but they still need to convince Parma to sell too.
