CJ Bott Signs For Leicester As Bedford Wins WSL Manager Of The Month

Written by Oluwaseun Oyediji

New Zealand international CJ Bott has joined Leicester City FC (LCFC) Women on a permanent contract following her spell with Norwegian first division side Vålerenga, subject to league approval.

More Details

Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Bott began her career with local outfits Tawa AFC, Lynn-Avon United, and Waterside Karori before making a move to Europe.

Her senior career began in Germany with Bundesliga side FF USV, where the defender made 15 appearances in the German top flight.

In 2018, the full-back made another career move and joined Scandinavian side Vittsjö GIK in Sweden. A move east beckoned one year later when Bott joined Toppserien outfit Vålerenga in 2020.

LCFC Women manager Lydia Bedford has received the Barclays English FA Women’s Super League (WSL) February Manager of the Month award as a result of the Foxes’ victories over Birmingham City and West Ham United.

Starting the month strong, Bedford presided over a crucial 2-1 Foxes victory against the Blues at St. Andrew’s, a result that saw her team climb above the West Midlands outfit in the league table.

Building on that success, she masterminded a comprehensive 3-0 victory over the Hammers at Pirelli Stadium three days later, doubling the season’s points tally within the space of two games.

LCFC Women are next in WSL action against Manchester United at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday 5 March.
