Coach Puma Extremely Delighted Over Fredrick “Gattuso” Godwin’s Inclusion In Flying Eagles’ Final List

Ebenezer Timilehin Hamed popularly known and addressed as “Puma” has expressed happiness at seeing one of his players make the final squad of Nigeria national U-20 team, the Flying Eagles to prosecute the forthcoming WAFU B tournament in Niger.

Fredrick Godwin nicknamed Gattuso for his tireless work ethic is one of 28 players named in coach Ladan Bosso’s final list for the zonal tournament.

Gattuso is a product of the famed Puma Football Academy (now SGH Sports Academy) in the Shasha area of Lagos Nigeria.

The 18 year old midfielder who has been likened to Italian World Cup winner and former AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is currently playing with City FC in the Nigerian National League, the second tier of football in the country.

Speaking to our correspondent, coach Puma who also produced Ismaheel Taofeek who’s on loan at Valerenga Oslo from FC Lorient in France as well as Adebayo Adeleye of Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem amongst others was visibly filled with excitement at seeing another of his products make a giant stride in his career.

“The results you’re seeing now is not a job done in months. We’ve had these boys since their tender years and I’m definitely one of the happiest man alive seeing my boys making waves. He told Bettitude.com in an exclusive interview.

“I wish Gattuso the very best as he goes to represent his country which has been his dream since childhood and I can categorically tell you that there’re still many to come.”

While in a chat with the player himself, he was asked if he sees the Flying Eagles going all the way to lifting the trophy he replied simply by saying, “God is in control.”

Nigeria will battle Ghana and Burkina Faso in the group phase of the tournament with the top two teams progressing to the semi finals.

The coach also sent his good luck messages to Bello Omowunmi Aminat, another graduate of the academy who is currently with the female national U-17 team (Flamingoes) in their quest to qualify for the next World Cup in their category.

The Flamingoes led by coach Bankole Olowookere dispatched their Egyptian counterparts 4-0 in the first leg in Abuja and are in Cairo for the return leg of the matchup.

Aminat scored a brace in the reverse fixture in a woman of the match performance and was lauded by her coach for improving on her previous performance.

“Aminat has been a very hard worker right from when I picked her up from the streets and I hope that she continues to make this academy and herself proud.” He said.

The skillful midfielder is currently a player of NWFL side Naija Ratels who’re preparing for the playoffs to determine league champions.
