Colombia Book Olympic Spot After Dramatic Shootout Win Over Argentina

Colombia have sealed their place at the 2028 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament after a tense penalty shootout victory over Argentina in the semi-finals of the Copa América Femenina 2025, following a goalless stalemate at full time.

The tightly contested match ended 0-0 after 90 minutes, with both teams creating chances but unable to break the deadlock at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado in Quito.

In the shootout, Colombia held their nerve, converting 5 of their 6 penalties, while Argentina missed two crucial kicks in a nail-biting sequence.

The final of the Copa América Femenina 2025 promises to be a thrilling contest, with Colombia eyeing their first continental title since 2014.

Colombia which also played at the last Olympics in Paris, France will now battle for the Copa America Femenina title like they did the last time out.

It might be the repeat of the last final if holders, Brazil beat Uruguay in the last semi final encounter.
