Colombia has made history by becoming the first nation in South America to qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

More Details

Currently leading the final phase of the South American U-17 Women’s Championship, which they are hosting, they are assured of a top-four finish.

This week, three additional CONMEBOL qualifiers will be determined. As the latest nation to secure their place in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Colombia is now the 21st country to qualify for the tournament in Morocco 2025, and they will be joined by three more CONMEBOL (South America) teams once the continental qualifiers conclude.

Under the guidance of coach Carlos Paniagua, the team excelled in the initial group stage and continues to lead the final stage with only two matches remaining.

With the top four teams earning a spot in the global event, neither fifth-placed Chile nor last-placed Peru can catch up to the young Cafeteras.

After advancing from the first phase on goal difference, Colombia has shown significant improvement throughout the qualifiers, achieving victories against Peru and Chile, along with a scoreless draw against Ecuador, which secured their fourth consecutive appearance at the U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Their goal will be to surpass their previous best performance, a runners-up finish in India 2022, with a talented squad featuring players such as Linda Caicedo, Gabriela Rodriguez, and Ana Maria Guzman.
