The Al Ittihad manager spoke about the Frenchman’s situation ahead of their match against Damac.

More Details

Al Ittihad manager Sergio Conceicao has addressed the situation surrounding the future of midfielder N’Golo Kante.

The French international has been linked with a move away from the club in the current January transfer window.

Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce have been strongly linked to the 34 year old veteran who has been at the Jeddah based club since the summer of 2023.

The Portuguese manager however chose to focus on the team other than discussing transfer rumours.

“I don’t want to talk about the transfer market. Any player who stays must have the right mindset and work for the prestige of the club”. Conceicao said ahead of their 1-1 draw at Damac.

With six months left on Kante’s Al Ittihad contract, he is free to negotiate with potential suitors and a deal can already be agreed for the summer.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Turkish side want the player immediately and have sent their first proposal to Al Ittihad who are holding out for a fee.

Personal terms are on the verge of being reached between the player and Fenerbahce before a deal with Al Ittihad is confirmed.

Kante joined Al Ittihad for free from Chelsea and was instrumental in their successful league and cup double triumph under Laurent Blanc last season.
