Conte’s future to be discussed on Tuesday

Former, Juventus, Chelsea and Italy coach, Antonio conte could be on his way out of Inter Milan after just one season at the club.

Multiple sources in Italy report that the coach is expected to meet with Inter’s president, Steven Zhang to evaluate the club performances this season and also figure out if there is a way to keep working together after the coach’s most recent press conference.

The Lecce born coach had claimed after Inter’s last league game of the season at Atalanta that he did not feel protected by the club and requested to meet face to face with the Zhang to discuss what needs to be done going forward. At the time, the Inter president was in China where he was held up due to flight restrictions put in place by the Chinese government amidst the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Zhang eventually managed to get the necessary authorization needed to fly out of the country to meet up with Inter’s first team in Germany where they were preparing for the Europa League Semifinals. Discussions between the coach and the president were postponed until after the Europa League.

However, Antonio Conte still seemed bothered about the issue when he was asked about it after his team’s 3-2 loss to Sevilla in the final of the Europa League, stating that he would be meeting with the club next week to decide his future before adding that he is “not sure he’ll be Inter manager next season” fueling speculations that he may have already decided to part ways with the club.

The coach insists that his outbursts have nothing to do with the club’s actions in the transfer market and it’s purely related to personal issues with the club. It is believed that Conte is upset with the way that information is being managed within the club, citing instances where information has leaked to the media like when he was sent a letter and a bullet last year. The package was delivered to him at the club’s training ground and was supposed to be kept secret but somehow found its way to the media.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Inter will meet with Conte on Tuesday and it is likely that both parties will decide to go separate ways. Inter have no intention of sacking him due to the financial implication on the club’s books so he would have to agree to a mutual termination albeit with a severance package. Max Allegri, who took charge after Conte left juventus in 2014 is expected to take charge in case of a split but Di Marzio notes that he has not been contacted yet.
