At the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford (New Jersey), it will be Uruguay clashing against Bolivia in their second group game in group C, with a place in the next round at stake for Uruguay, while Bolivia will be hoping to avoid defeat, else, they will be out of the competition after losing their first game to USA.

Uruguay

For the Le Celeste, it was a morale boosting win for them in their first game, a 3-1 win against Panama. Despite the scoreline, the match was far from easy, as they required two late goals to see off a stubborn opponent and Bolivia is expected to be a less tough opponent.

That victory not only extended their winning run in the group phase of this tournament to three consecutive games, but they are also now unbeaten in four successive Copa America group contests. With a win against Bolivia and a USA win or draw versus Panama, they would advance into the knockout stage for a third straight Copa America campaign.

But the goal would be to finish as group winners, hence they will need a win over USA in the last game. Uruguay have won nine successive international affairs when leading at the half and have not lost when in front at the interval since a 3-1 defeat to Costa Rica at the 2014 World Cup.

For Marcelo Bielsa, the 4-3-3 is the go to formation, but we might see one or two changes to the lineup from the first game. There were concerns about the status of Ronald Araujo after the Barcelona defender was taken off at the half for Jose Gimenez, though he later revealed on his Instagram account that it was due to dehydration and a drop in blood pressure, adding that he is OK.

Key Players: Goals from Araujo, Darwin Nunez and Matias Vina were enough to give Uruguay a victory against Panama, but the likes of Ugarte and Federico Valverde will definitely put in the shift in the midfield to give them a solid base to launch an attack.

Uruguay Possible Starting Lineup: Rochet; Nandez, R. Araujo, Olivera, Vina; Valverde, Ugarte; Pellistri, De Arrascaeta, M. Araujo; Nunez

Bolivia

For Bolivia, they know that it would be a tall order asking them to qualify from this group, but they know that they can build for the future, hence, a point at this tournament would be an achievement. Their losing run at the Copa America is now at 13 games.

And while they have only claimed one victory in their previous 31 fixtures at this tournament, as far back as 2015, a 3-2 win over Ecuador, it would be hard replicating that in this current group. They’ve also conceded eight times in their previous three fixtures after allowing just one in their two matches played before that.

In three of their previous four Copa America encounters, the Bolivians have failed to score. Going into this encounter, their manager, Antonio Carlos Zago, there will be no changes to the 3-1-4-2 formation, but they will definitely be more adventurous than they were against USA. The goal is to score early and see out the game, but Uruguay will also be on alert to exploit them.

Key Players: Rodrigo Ramallo could be their main source of goal in this game, but he will need all the help he can get, especially from the likes of Saucedo, Villamil and Cesar Menacho.

Head To Head

They’ve had numerous clashes, between the Copa America and World Cup qualifiers, and in their last 10 games played against each other, Uruguay with their seven wins are the clear favorite, with just 2 wins for Bolivia and one ended in a draw.

Verdict

Should be another win for Uruguay after getting the better of Panama (3-0).
