Paraguay

Paraguay are the underdogs in Group D, La Albirroja were beaten by Colombia in their opening match. However, they showed lots of promise, especially in attack with the likes of Alex Arce, Miguel Almiron and Julio Enciso.

Daniel Garnero’s Paraguayan side have now lost their previous three Copa America games when trailing after halftime. However, Paraguay’s recent showing might offer a glimmer of hope against Brazil, who have also been underwhelming in recent games.

Brazil

For Brazil, the opening match was a bigger disappointment. The five-time world cup champions entered the game as heavy favorites against a lowly-rated Costa Rican team, but Dorival Júnior’s men found it extremely difficult to break down a well-organized Los Ticos defence despite having 70% ball possession.

Coach Dorival Júnior’s starting lineup should feature the likes of Rodrygo, Vinicius Júnior, Raphinha, Paquetá and Guimarães, Brazil are likely to dominate possession and bombard the Paraguayan defense with waves of attacks. The Seleção’s upcoming matchup against Paraguayan team becomes a crucial test for both Dorival Júnior and his players.

Head To Head

While Brazil holds the historical advantage against Paraguay, their encounters tend to be close affairs. Brazil have the upper hand with seven win, while Paraguay have managed four wins in this matchup.

Key Performers

All eyes will be on Rodrygo’s creativity and Vinicius Jr.’s blistering pace on the wings. Guimarães’ experience and defensive contributions in Brazil’s midfield will be crucial.

Julio Enciso brings pace and dribbling skills to the frontline. Miguel Almirón brings attacking flair and creativity, while Fabián Balbuena will be the marshal at the back for Paraguay.

Verdict

Brazil are the favourites based on their wealth of experience and attacking prowess. However, history shows that Paraguay can be a tough opponent, especially in these high-pressure situations.
