Danielle Williams Takes Over As World Leaders in 60mH in the Tiger Paw Invitational

2015 100 metres hurdles World Champion, Danielle Williams took over the world lead from American Kendra Harrison after her 7.75 win in the 60 metres hurdle at the Clemson (South Carolina) on Friday.

Williams remained unbeaten after three straight events this year taking over the world lead from Harrison who had run 7.81 seconds a month ago at the same track.

She however, missed the Jamaican National Record held by Michelle Freeman’s by a mere hundredth, ahead of ever improving Paula Salmon in also a PB of 7.83 and Masai Russell in 7.93 (PB) over the women’s 60mh at the Tiger Paw Invitational, Clemson.

Williams had clocked a time of 7.86, finishing four races (heats or finals) under 7.9 successively, ahead of Masai Russell in 8.01 in heat 1 and Paula Salmon kept showing promise in 7.93 on top of heat 3 in the prelims.

She took the first place position last week at the New Balance Grand Prix with a time of 7.83 in the women’s 60 metres hurdle.

Meanwhile…

On the men’s side, Leonard Mustari edged Devon Brooks for a narrow win in 7.55, a NJR equalling Liu Xiang’s 20-year-old WJR (senior sticks), to 7.56 (PB) with Rasheem Brown third in 7.68 over the final of the 60mh in Clemson.

He clocked a time of 7.64 in the preliminary, the same time as he did in the same stage on the same track in his previous outing in late January. A race Jesse Henderson came second in an equal PB of 7.66 in heat 2 where Rasheem Brown picked up a substantial PB of 7.65 in heat 3.
