DC United’s Luis Zamudio Completes Colorado Springs Switchbacks Loan Move

Luis Zamudio, a custodian in the United Soccer League (USL) Championship, has been loaned by D.C. United to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Zamudio may be called up by the team at any time during the 2024 campaign.

On October 17, 2022, Zamudio, 25, joined the Black-and-Red from Loudoun United FC, its United Soccer League (USL) Championship affiliate. The native of Las Vegas agreed to a two-year contract until 2024, with a 2025 option.

Zamudio joined Loudoun United FC on March 11, 2022, and the following day, on March 12, 2022, he played in the team’s 1-0 victory over Indy Eleven.

Throughout the 2022 season, Zamudio started 27 games, racked up seven shutouts, and placed second in the USL Championship with 103 saves.

On June 16, 2023, Zamudio went on loan to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL Championship, ending his previous season. During his five games with the Riverhounds, the goalie went 2-0-3 without conceding a point, keeping four clean sheets.

After enrolling in the Club America (Liga MX) development academy in 2019, Zamudio played there for four seasons until earning a contract with the USL League One team North Texas SC in 2020. After that, in 2021, he signed with Inter Miami II and then Loudoun United.
