De Paul, who joined on loan from Atlético Madrid in July, was crucial to Inter Miami’s success, tallying 2 goals and 7 assists in 23 matches.

His standout performance included an integral role in the MLS Cup 2025 win, where he started all six playoff games and scored the championship-deciding goal versus Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
The 31-year-old Argentine national, who signed a contract running through 2029 with a purchase option, is joining the team as a Designated Player (DP).
He will occupy a DP spot next to his countryman, Lionel Messi, filling one of the vacancies created by the departures of Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.

The midfielder is also highly decorated internationally, having earned the nickname “Messi’s bodyguard” during Argentina’s 2022 World Cup victory. He holds 83 caps and has also secured two Copa América titles (in 2021 and 2024).
Rodrigo De Paul amassed close to 500 professional club appearances throughout his career, playing for Racing Club (where he started), Valencia CF, Udinese, and ultimately Atlético.
De Paul is expected to be a key player for Inter Miami in 2026 as they pursue more trophies, defending their MLS Cup, and also competing in the Concacaf Champions Cup and Leagues Cup.
