Originally signed in August 2021 as a U22 Initiative player from Independiente del Valle, Vite was a key contributor to the ‘Caps’ success. He helped them win three consecutive Canadian Championships from 2022 to 2024 and played a crucial role in their journey to the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup final.
“Pedro arrived in Vancouver at 19, living outside of Ecuador for the first time. Year after year, he continued to progress, and this season he’s emerged as one of the top midfielders in MLS and a key contributor to his national team,” said sporting director Axel Schuster.
“We explored several options with Pedro and, ultimately, we respect his decision.
“We’re grateful for everything he brought to the club and wish him all the best in the next chapter of his career. The incoming transfer fee will be reinvested to strengthen our roster, for both immediate impact and long-term success.”

With Pedro Vite’s exit, the Vancouver Whitecaps’ midfield relies on Ryan Gauld, Sebastian Berhalter, Andrés Cubas, and Ali Ahmed. The team has the opportunity to strengthen their squad during the MLS Secondary Transfer Window, which is open from July 24 to August 21.
Currently, under head coach Jesper Sørensen in their inaugural season, the Whitecaps are performing well, sitting second in the Western Conference with a record of 12 wins, 5 losses, and 5 draws, totaling 41 points.
Meanwhile, Pumas UNAM, the club Vite transferred to, is set to participate in this summer’s Leagues Cup, and their roster includes former Houston Dynamo FC midfielder Coco Carrasquilla.
